When we pray, we only pray using the words Allah has prescribed for us, through the Messenger (peace be upon him). So we are restricted from saying anything bad. And if we make any personal additions to our prayer, these are for good, and thus prayer prevents us from evil speech. There is no room for slander or backbiting in prayer.
